Evelyn Mae McDonald of Upland, California, passed away on August 9, 2013 at the age of 85, in the presence of her immediate family. She was born October 14, 1927, in Pennsylvania. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Agnes and Clarence Johnson, and graduated from Melrose High School in Melrose, Massachusetts in 1944, later moving with them to Struthers, Ohio. Evelyn worked in a bank before marrying and becoming a mother and homemaker. She was artistic and spent much of her time creating beautiful quilts and quilted clothing for her family and friends. In earlier years she also created many stained glass hangings, as well as stitchery and some ceramics and other crafts.
She met and married Donald McDonald, her husband of 60 years, while he was on a tour of duty at Youngstown Air Force Base in Ohio, and traveled the country with him. She is survived by her sister Agnes, son Keith and daughter Meg, grandchildren Sean McDonald (Laura), Kyle McDonald, and Brianna McDonald, and great-grandchildren Olivia McDonald, Julia McDonald, Evie Mauricio, Sawyer Mauricio, and Judah Mauricio, nieces Lynn Novisky and Joyce Pavelko, and nephews John Pavelko and Ron Smith. Her funeral will take place September 14, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Stone Funeral Home.
