Frederick G. Anderson Jr. found peace on May 1, 2024 when he passed away in the care of loving nurses at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, CA. He was born on May 20, 1942 to Frederick G. Anderson Sr. and Elizabeth Tyrell in Springfield, Massachusetts. Growing up on a farm with three other brothers had its challenges, which lead him to search for something more. Years after serving in the Army during the Korean War and ending his first marriage, Fred found himself in California at a night club where he met the love of his life, Esther Higueros. It is said (by Fred himself) that he was so taken by Esther, that he told his friend and "wing man" for that night "I am going to marry that woman!"
Remarried yet unable to have more children, Fred was a devoted husband and a big supporter of Esther’s two daughters. Through their marriage and beyond, he would dance and sing with his wife and family. Some of his hobbies were bowling, motorcycles, traveling, and puzzles. In his last few years, Fred, with the help and guidance of his Grandson Stephen, discovered Lego Technique Kits and built motorcycles and memories together. Many Sundays were spent watching his favorite NFL team (San Francisco 49ers).
He worked at Firestone for 26 years and retired at the age of 62. His wife later became ill and they moved to Utah briefly for treatment. After her passing on July 4, 2011, Fred moved back to California and continued his best to carry on without the love of his life. Many precious memories were shared within his community as he kept his faith in God and attended Water of Life Community Church. He later volunteered to be a greeter for their services until his health caught up with him. His loving daughter, Silvia Olachea, would then take care of him until the hospital deemed it was necessary for professional care. That never stopped Fred from sharing his love with others. For over a year he bonded with many other nurses and veterans, all claiming he is the best part of their day and how sweet of a man he was. Whether it was singing with a nurse for other patients, or making simple conversation with some new friends, Frederick Anderson always did his best to keep a positive spirit when times were tough.
Frederick G. Anderson Jr. is survived by his daughters Silvia Olachea and her partner Gary LeRoy, Norma “Leticia” Petot and her husband Melvin Petot, his brother John “Tommy” Anderson and his wife Wanda Anderson. Alongside them, his grandchildren, Stephen Olachea and his wife Brianna Olachea, Jessica Olachea and her partner Joshua Varela, Lisa Rincon and her husband Daniel Rincon, Jennifer Petot and her wife Kelli Griggs, Kimberly Blea and her husband William Blea. He is also remembered by his nephew and nieces George Anderson, Cathy Forrette, and Ann Morone and their loving families.
