Herman "Gene" Techam

Gene was born on January 29, 1941, to Herman and Mary (Dvorak) Techam. He was raised in Minnetonka and was a longtime resident of Rancho Cucamonga.

He graduated from Hopkins Eisenhower High School, Class of 1959. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police dog handler.

Gene spent more than 41 years as a professional truck driver, most of those years with Safeway and Vons. He was also a longtime member of the Teamsters in Southern California.

A devoted member of his community, Gene served as senior member and treasurer of the local Bachelor's N Bachelorette's Square Dance Club and was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Upland in Upland, California.

Papa Gene was blessed with two great loves in his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 21 years, Sharon Wolfrom-Techam, and is survived by his longtime companion, Christine “Tina” Perry.

Gene is lovingly survived by his children: Ken and Renee (Martin) Wolfrom, Paul and Roxy (Douglas) Wolfrom, and Leslie Wolfrom; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Tina Perry and his siblings Robert “Bob” Techam, Dan Techam, Diane Techam, and Deanna Techam.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Wolfrom-Techam; daughter, Laurie Wolfrom-Flores; parents, Herman and Mary Techam; sister, Kathy Day; and brothers, David Techam and Stephen Techam.

Gene’s long and fruitful life earned him a master’s degree in spirit-filled compassion, mercy, and faith. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A Viewing and Rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Upland, located at 877 N. Campus Avenue, Upland, California. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel located at 1400 Mainstreet - Hopkins, MN on May 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Saint Margaret’s Cemetery, located at Bren Rd & Shady Oak Rd - Minnetonka, MN.
