James Michael Sylva, 68, of Upland, formerly of Newport Beach, passed away December 19, 2011 at home. He was born March 2, 1943 in Los Angeles and lived in Upland for 34 years. James was a U.S. Army Veteran, Vietnam Era. He loved the sea, racing sailboats & racing cars. He is survived by his wife, Linda; three children - Amy (Steve) Vos, Temecula; Jackie (Bill) Nowland, Gales Ferry, CT; Chad (Stacy) Baker, Kalamazoo, MI; one sister - Patricia (Roger) Sampson, Claremont; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law - Andy Colvin, Kalamazoo, MI and Dear Friend - Barbara Miller, San Bernardino. Visitation will be 4-8:00 pm Tuesday (12/27) & funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina. Arrangements under the direction of Stone Funeral Home FD272, Upland, CA.
