Lois "Rosebud" was born on May 6, 1920 in the small town of Wapello City, Iowa to Earl and Esther Wilton. The oldest of four children, Lois had three siblings: Rex; Robert Earl "Bob" and Betty Theodora. Lois was raised by her loving grandparents, Theodore "Theo" and Mary Magdalena "Lena" Wilton.
When she met Harold, they both knew that it was fated that they be together, so they married and started their family, ultimately having three children. First, their oldest Judith "Judy", then followed by Richard "Butch" and their youngest, Deborah "Debby". They were happily married until Harold passed away on January 5, 1994.
On September 26, 1948, Lois was baptized in the Baptist church with Harold. As friends and family know, she never wavered on her faith from the moment she walked down to the front of the church those many years ago. She would often say, the Lord is LOVE. Her faith and faithfulness inspired so many.
Recognizing the importance of serving as an example of His love in her own life, Lois was active through her church until it was no longer physically possible, as well as through charitable efforts with her time, talent and treasure. She personally delivered meals to the elderly in her local community through Meals on Wheels for over 17 years and also gave to other charitable causes, including: Habitat for Humanity, Smile Train, World Vision and many more.
Lois moved with her family to Upland, CA in 1964 and worked for nearly 20 years in student administration at Chaffey High School. She managed to organize the class schedules for all students on her own, without the support of a computer! She often would work until midnight in their home den, to complete this herculean task. When Lois retired, not even two people could complete the job she did on her own. A great example of her inspiring strengths of discipline and responsibility that were also evident in her faith, charity and at home.
Lois will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and countless friends. She was the most popular 100 year old ever! Her beautiful combination of being both strong and sweet will live on in the memory of those who will love her always.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Smile Train and/or World Vision.
Our life does not end at death but continues as an endless life of fellowship with God.
