Peter John Scopis, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025. Born on July 25, 1941, Peter lived a full and vibrant life marked by curiosity, dedication, and deep love for his family. For the past 29 years, he made his home in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where he was a cherished friend, neighbor, and family man.
Peter worked as a mechanical engineer with Mico West for over 40 years, earning the respect of colleagues through his intelligence, strong work ethic, and problem-solving nature. Outside of his career, Peter was a man of fitness and an avid runner. He completed six LA Marathons—an accomplishment that reflected his determination, discipline, and passion for staying active.
Known for his incredible memory of family history, Peter found joy in sharing stories, learning new things, and keeping the family’s roots alive. He especially loved time spent with his family—vacations, gatherings, and every shared moment in between. With his quick wit, endless jokes, and warm personality, Peter was always the life of the party and brought laughter wherever he went.
Peter leaves behind a family who adored him deeply: his daughter Kelly Gilmartin and her husband Joe; his granddaughter Madison Dominguez and her husband Reid; his grandson Chase Gilmartin; his sister Jane Reagan and her husband Jack. He will also be missed by many cousins and countless friends who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Helen and George Scopis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of Peter Scopis.
