Rafael M. Velasco was born July 16,1925 in Bettendorf, Iowa to Jose & Jovita Velasco. Married to wife Mary G. Velasco, 72 years. Together they had 3 daughters, Carole, Gloria & Irene. Preceded in death by wife Mary & daughter Carole.
World War ll Veteran, served in U.S. Army, participated in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany under The Old Hickory 30th Heavy Arms Division. He was a true hero to his country the United States of America!
Over the years, he & Mary travelled to many countries, enjoyed over 20 cruises and every year spent 1 month in Hawaii, which was Rafael's favorite spot for relaxation.
Worked more than 40 years for Vortox, Inc. in Claremont,CA, as a Supervisor & Welder. Retired in 1986, at age 62, and enjoyed 34 years of retirement!
Is survived by Daughter Irene Leon & Gilbert, Daughter Gloria Velasco, Son-in-law Raymond Linares. Also Grandchildren Ray E. Linares, Rudy Linares, Christi Steinhauer & Carrie Anderson. Also 9 Great-Grandchildren, Ray, Luke, Roman, Reese, April,Justin,Allison, Molly & Max. Sisters Eliza Granillo, Angela Merrihue & numerous nieces & nephews.
Private Service is set for October 14th, at Arlington Riverside National Cemetery at 10:30 AM.
