Regina Maria Elena “Mary” Valinotti

September 7, 1954 – November 24, 2019

Mary Valinotti, age 65, passed away suddenly on November 24 in Upland, CA.

Mary is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mike, their son Matt and his wife Kyla; mother Rosa Luyo; sisters Rosi Bening, Juana (Dave)Mecozzi, and Martha (Fred) Wright; father-in-law Nick Valinotti; sister-in-law Justine Valinotti; brothers-in-law Tony (Rose) Valinotti and Vin (Barbara Ann) Valinotti; eight nieces and nephews, and one grandnephew. Mary was born in Peru and moved to the United States as a young girl. She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, CA, and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. She was employed as a customer service representative throughout most of her career.

Our beloved Mary was a spiritual, kind, loving, and generous person, always striving to make sure everyone was happy. She enjoyed traveling the states by car, and recently experienced her dream vacation to Spain. Mary also loved baking, crafting, spending time with her family, and assisting others through her church, community, and other organizations. She was a dedicated Cub and Boy Scout leader and volunteer for many years; she was proud of the mature and loving men all her boys became.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Woodruff Ward, 6541 Woodruff Pl, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91701, on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

At Mary’s request, her ashes will be buried at sea where she will always be able to view the beach – a place she enjoyed since childhood.

Mary and I have never met in person but for years she has helped me create beautiful patches and T-shirt’s. I am so, so saddened by this news and I know she will be so dearly missed by her loved ones as she was so kind, patient and caring, even someone who only interacted with her by phone and email feels this loss.

I talked to Mary many times as I ordered patches for our council and the Order of the Arrow. Mary was always so helpful and friendly on the phone. My sympathies to her family. I know she will be with you in spirit and help you through the tough times.

For the past 20 year plus, the membership of Girl Scouts of Santa Clara and Girl Scouts of Northern California have been able to grace their vests with the most lovely patches that are produced by Joycrest. This was only possible with the help of Mary who had the best ideas, creative know how, and the best customer service skills. The patch that stands out the most are the ones Mary helped me design for San Jose Dance Theatre's - Girl Scout Back Stage Tour Program. For the past 16 years, I proudly tell our membership that the Girl Scout Back Stage Tour Program has the best patch of any program offered. I tell our membership that a wonderful people named Mary at Joycrest in So. California, helps me each year to design the most wonderful patch. I had the privilege of meeting her several times at the Girl Scout Annual Conventions and we developed a friendship that I will always treasure. My sympathies to her family and friends. I will always remember her kindness, professionalism and friendship.

My condolences, I've never formally met Mary, but she was such a sweet lady and a pleasant person to work with. I wish more professionals would be as kind as she was.

Mary was such a dedicated Cub Scout leader. I served with her in Primary. I was continually impressed by her diligence, knowledge and love of those boys! She was so patient with me-as I was unacquainted with all of it! She always had a great attitude. And I will continually be blessed and encouraged by her example.
