Reina was born on February 1, 1930, in Cucamonga, California. The second oldest of thirteen children, she spent a long, beautiful life here in the heart of the Inland Empire. She lived most of her life in Ontario, California, along with her husband Lupe, who passed away ten years ago shortly after their 65th wedding anniversary. They had six children together.
A member of St. George Catholic Church in Ontario, Reina was the matriarch of a large, closeknit family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family, to which, along with her dearly departed husband, she laid the foundation for. She was a devout Catholic and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She helped support her family through her many jobs throughout the years, such as working at the Sycamore Inn, Upland Lemon Packing House and in the cafeteria at General Electric. Reina was blessed with many gifts including cooking, sewing, decorating and the ability to make anyone who came to her home feel welcome. At her home, a regular gathering place for many of her friends and family, Reina always made sure to bestow a blessing on those who visited with the departing words, “Dios Le Bendiga y Lo Compañía.”
Reina is survived by her daughter Lupita Ramirez and her husband Robert; son John Herrera and his wife Dianne; son Larry Herrera; daughter Martha Cortez and her husband David; daughter Tina Tucker and her husband David; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and her siblings Atilano Gutierrez, Jr., Theresa Cerna, Margaret Silva, Andrea Lopez, and Rachel Gutierrez.
