

Richard (Rich) Paul Cleaves, 43, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on December 20, 1981, in Pasadena, California, to Steve and Jan Cleaves.
Richard is survived by his two beloved children, Moira Cleaves and Wyatt Cleaves, wife Crystal Cleaves, and by his father, Steve Cleaves. He is also survived by his siblings, Sarah Esajian, Jenny Tsimogiannis, Amy Rousseau, Colby Williams and Moira's mother, Angelique Ersland along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard for eight years, where his lifelong connection and love for the ocean deepened. His fondness for the beach and sea reflected his adventurous spirit, calm presence, and deep appreciation for all wildlife and the beauty of nature.
A man of depth and reflection, Richard was a writer, philosopher, and theologian; always seeking truth, meaning, and an understanding of both himself and the world around him. He attended church and studied the Bible religiously, with aspirations to continually develop a stronger connection to God and a deeper biblical awareness. Richard's wisdom will live on in the live of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Richard will be remembered for his boyish charm, sarcastic sense of humor, quiet strength, and most of all his unwavering devotion to his children. Though his life ended far too soon, his legacy to pursue knowledge, love, and faith will endure forever.
