Wanda Wade, a woman whose heart exuded both warmth and resilience, left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was born on September 19, 1936, in Pleasant Valley, Arkansas and transitioned peacefully on October 6th, 2023 at the age of 87. Wanda's life was a captivating blend of charm and tenacity.
From her early days growing up on the farm, Wanda enjoyed gardening and sewing, but she wasn’t shy about admitting her dislike for farm work.
Wanda's favorite pastimes mirrored her unique character. She was a feisty card player, known for her spirited games with friends and family, and had a deep-seated love for Western movies, watching more of them than one might deem reasonable.
Wanda had an affinity for a good deal. Her life was enriched by the joy of yard sales and thrift shopping, where she uncovered treasures and bargains that brought her endless delight.
Wanda lovingly raised three wonderful children: Janet McGinnis, Theresa Cunningham (Scott), and Clifford French Jr. Her genuine care for the community shone through her volunteer work at her children's schools and sports activities.
Professionally, she dedicated herself to Builders Emporium, serving faithfully until her well-earned retirement.
In retirement, she embraced new horizons, including a move to Washington State, where she met her husband Bill. This period made her time with the Eastern Star Skykomish Lodge #259, Centennial Lodge #25 Snohomish, and Floral Chapter #117 O.E.S. all the more special. Sundays were filled with joyous singing at the Church of Our Saviour in Monroe.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Bill, her children, and an extensive loving family. Her legacy endures through her sisters: Inez Pierce (Howard), Maxine Pace (WA), and Bernice Wiseman (Van), and her brother, John Harmon. Her love continues to shine through her eight grandchildren: Jeremy, Megan, Marian, Ronnie, Garrett, Clayton, Clifford III, and Krista, as well as her seven great-grandchildren: Raiden, Ryleigh, Austin, Parker, Paxton, Katlyn, and Ethan.
In Wanda's reunion with the heavens, she's joined by her parents, Thomas and Ruth Harmon; her brother, Kenneth Harmon; her sister, Bonnie Todd; and the father of her children, Clifford French.
A celebration of Wanda's life will be held on October 25, 2023, at 11:30 am at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario, California, a fitting place for a woman who brought light and warmth to all she encountered. The Stone Funeral Home is honored to oversee the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the City of Hope, an organization aligned with Wanda's spirit of hope and generosity, at 1500 Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010. Wanda Wade's unforgettable spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.stonefuneralhomeupland.com for the Wade family.
