He is survived by his beloved wife, Hanh T. Vu, and has three living children, Alex C. Neuman, Thuy Tara Nguyen, and Michael T. Nguyen. In memory of his two other sons who had passed Thanh V. Nguyen and Dat Nguyen, whom my father always loved and cherished.
In his life, he helped shape the war efforts as part of the Special Forces “Redbirds”, working closely hand-in-hand with the Central Intelligence Agency and the South Vietnamese government, along with countless unnamed, brave soldiers and individuals who sacrificed their lives to protect what was then Saigon.
When he was younger, he also volunteered with UNICEF to bring food and medicine to the poor in the countryside. He led a difficult life, being orphaned at a young age, yet he went on to learn no fewer than six different languages during his lifetime.
He taught his family, and especially his sons and daughter, the value of compassion, strength, and dignity. Humility was his calling card, and he lived only to serve others - most especially my mom, to whom he dedicated the latter half of his life, taking care of and nurturing her.
