Barbara Curtis Curtis Bowman

Barbara Curtis Bowman, age 65, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 28, 2013 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Curtis and Dorothy Smith Curtis born on August 20, 1948 in Caldwell County.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a lifetime member of Oakwood Presbyterian Church and was active in the choir. Barbara will be greatly missed.

Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Howard George Bowman, and two brothers, James and Joseph Curtis.

Those left behind to cherish Barbara’s memory include a son, Howard James Bowman and his wife, Regina Sechrest of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Gloria Griffin of Stoneville, Jane Curtis and Rebecca LeFevre, both of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Brayden James Bowman and Brooklyn Denise Bowman. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Oakwood Presbyterian Church in Lenoir. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Philip Adams will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
