Fonze Theodore Hicks

Mr. Hicks was born in Jonas Ridge, North Carolina on July 4, 1934 to the late John Everett Hicks & Mary Louise Clark Hicks. He was of Baptist faith and was married to Betty Sue Trivett Hicks, who preceded him in death in 1975; and later to Eileen Hicks, who preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Hicks worked at Winn Dixie and Food Lion and was known for taking long walks around Valdese. He enjoyed eating breakfast at McDonalds where he never knew a stranger. He loved his family and enjoyed attending family reunions. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Timmy Hicks and James Frank Hicks; a step son, Lynn Blalock; a brother, James Thomas Hicks; and a sister Audrey Davis.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Hicks & wife Angie of Valdese; two daughters, Linda Duckett & husband Will of Maggie Valley and Kathy Goins & husband Alan of Morganton; a step daughter, Marie Blalock of Bethlehem; a sister, Mary Lou Berry & husband Claude of Hickory; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Memorial Chapel of Valdese Family Funeral Care. Burial will follow at the Hicks Family Cemetery in Elk Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
