James Marshall Carswell

Mr. James Marshall Carswell, 76, of Valdese, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 10, 2011, while at his residence. Born August 4, 1934, in Burke County, he was a son of the late James Byard Carswell and Ocie Chapman Carswell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Carswell, a brother, John E. Carswell, an infant brother, Clyde Carswell, and a sister, Clara L. Carswell. Mr. Carswell was a member of the Community Church of Drexel. He retired from Drexel Heritage after many years of service and he was awarded several Perfect Attendance Awards. He loved his family very much.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen D. Carswell, of Morganton;

A son, Kenneth R. Carswell, of Valdese;

Two grandsons, Terry J. Carswell, of Charlotte and Brandon R. Carswell, of Morganton;

Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in the Chapel of Valdese Family Funeral Care with Rev. Roger Webb officiating. Burial will follow at the United Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd, Valdese, NC 28690.
