

Alice “Elaine” Taylor, 80, of Van Buren, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026. She was born October 11, 1945 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late Julius and Alice (Keener) Carr. She was a homemaker. She attended New Bethel Assembly of God church where she was a part of their praise and worship team. She briefly played piano and sang for a group called The Sound of Harvest in the early 1980s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Taylor; two ex-husbands, Frankie Smith and Franklin Brown; two sisters, CloeAnn Parsons and Mary Elizabeth Carr; and five brothers, Ray Carr, Raymond Carr, Donald Carr, David Haney, and Kenny Haney.
She is survived by two daughters, LaVonda Woosley and husband Michael of Fort Smith, and Nina McKesson of Springdale; a son, Samuel Smith and wife Sally of Gravette; a sister, Linda Sue Bennett and husband Dewey of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Henry Paul Carr and wife Shirley of McLoud, Oklahoma, Harland Carr and wife Joyce of McLoud, Alfred Carr and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, and Troy Haney and wife Tanya of Eufaula; three sisters-in-law, Linda Carr of Vici, Oklahoma, Jeanie Haney of Eufala, and Jessie Haney of Eufala; six grandchildren, Ashley, Codey, Mayleena, Darrin, Trinity, Audrey and husband Tristan, one great-grandchild, Naomi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026 at New Bethel Church at 2201 North 8th in Fort Smith with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Darrin Benham, Codey Benham, Josh Roam, Larry Warstler, Jeremiah Carr, and Trenton Carr.
The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
