

Allen Ray Sims, 84, of Charleston, was called home Tuesday, March 7, 2023. He was born January 12, 1939 in Branch, to the late John Allen Sims and Sally Irene (Hixon) Sims. He was a 1957 graduate of County Line High School in Branch. After graduating, Allen enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent most of his life as a truck driver, driving all across the United States, before retiring.
Allen deeply loved his family, and spent time with them any chance he could. He also enjoyed spending time with both his church family and his friends, playing guitar, singing, playing games, woodworking, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Sims and John C. Sims; and a sister, Ruth Ann (Sims) Gaines.
He is survived by four children; Mark Allen Sims and wife Deanna of Charleston, Vicki Lynn (Sims) McFerran and husband Bruce of Charleston, Johna Lee (Sims) Mills and husband Bill of Lexington, Oklahoma, and Michelle (Sims) Garrison and partner Rick Bradley of Subiaco; a sister, Katrina Sims of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren, Christy (McFerran) McLaren, Matt Sims, Rochelle (Garrison) Hern, Joseph Mikles, Joe Don Garrison, Mallory Sims, Makayla Sims, and Madeline Sims; ten great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
