Arlene Dowell, 88, of Alma, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at her home. She was born August 28, 1927 in Higgins, TX to the late Harry and Alice Ball. She was retired from Howard Johnson’s in Wichita, KS. She had also worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, and the Buck Trent Theater in Branson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Dowell.
She is survived by a daughter, Melody Howard and husband Ted of Alma; two sons, Ralph Dowell of Chetopa, KS, and Steve Clark and wife Nancy of Hackett; a sister, Beverly Schneider of Derby, KS; a brother, Daryl Ball of Clinton, MO; eight grandchildren, Heather Howard, Lance Howard, Bryan Howard, Tommy Clark, Charlie Clark, John Clark, Ralph Dowell, and Max Dowell; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Interment of cremains will be at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
