Bernie Gene Stephenson

Bernie Stephenson, 92, of Mountainburg, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at his home. He was born June 2, 1929 in Clovis, NM to the late Raymond and Avis (Shaw) Lane. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired truck driver for Whitfield Transportation in El Paso, and a member of the VFW in Mountainburg, where he had been an officer. He was preceded in death by his wife Jesusita Esqueda Stephenson.

He is survived by his son, Ralph Borunda and wife Karen of Euless, TX; seven grandchildren, Steve Borunda of Laurel, MD, David Borunda and wife Deborah of Mountain View, AR, Lorina Marshall and husband Dominic of Phoenix, AZ, Andrea Richardson and husband Randy of Northlake, TX, Erik Borunda of San Diego, CA, Jennifer Yonkman of Euless, TX, and Lincoln Hammer of Grand Prairie, TX; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his cherished companion Margie Sizemore of Mountainburg.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Freedom Cemetery near Chester, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
