

Betty Carney Gentry, 87, of Van Buren, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. She was born April 23, 1927 in Fort Smith to the late Arch and Flora Edwards Sebastian. She was a volunteer for Project Compassion, and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer Carney, Sr., and Richard Gentry.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Peevy of Little Rock, Rhonda Kasler of Annandale, NJ, and Kay Villines of Rudy; a son, Lee Carney of Rudy; nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Peevy, Rodney Peevy, Darren Kain, Jason Kain, Chase Bailey, and Landon Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Peevy, Ray Myers, Dwight Christian, Ralph Robbins, Grady Freeman, Don Real, Dale Franklin, Douglas Kasler, Nicholas Kasler, Jeffrey Kasler, Danny Villines, and Ron Diesso.
The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
