Billy Joe Dennis

Billy Joe Dennis, 84, of Dyer, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Thursday, July 20, 2023. He was born December 8, 1938 in Moffett. He was a retired Limousine builder and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid trout fisherman and bowler. He was inducted into the Fort Smith USBC Association on October 3, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy (Czarnikow) Dennis, Sr.; his birth father, Bertie Avery Wofford; a sister, Doris Tanner; and his brothers, Donnie Dennis, James Dennis, Jr., Norwin Ray Wofford, and Avery Lucky Wofford.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Dennis of the home; three daughters, Terry Holton and husband Troy of Harrison, Tammy Mireles and husband Joe of Evant, TX, and Tina Gardner of Harrison; a son, Billy Dennis, Jr. and wife Veronica of Little Elm, TX; three sisters, Sharylon Gilstrap and husband Bobby of Van Buren, Paula Hattabaugh and husband Darrell of Mulberry, and Lana Kay Lamproe of Roland; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two bonus grandchildren, five furbabies, and many other friends and relatives.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bishop, Terry Holton, Tammy Mireles, Billy Dennis, Jr., Dwayne Young, and Don Newton.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
