Charles “Charlie” Picco, 91, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at his home. He was born March 31, 1933 in Chicago to the late Charles and Viola (Muschal) Picco, Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired sheet metal worker. Charlie was an avid bowler, fisherman, and camper. He was the owner/operator of Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips, Park Lane Bowling Alley, Picco’s Italian Foods, and several sandwich shops. He loved to travel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Picco; a grandson, Brian Picco; a great-granddaughter, Aspen Jade Didway; and his best friend and beloved sister, Barbara Hoaglund.
He is survived by his wife, Leta Picco of the home; a daughter, Therese Picco of Cedarville; two sons, Steven Didway and wife Pam of Spiro, and Christopher Didway of Van Buren; his best friend whom he considered a brother, Larry Roush; four grandchildren, Tyler Didway (Taylor), Easton Didway (Shay), Dru Didway (Faith), and Hannah Branham (Devan); and five great-grandchildren, Kinlie, Addi, Bristol, Bronx, and Wylder Didway.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Ashes will be placed at the Fort Smith National Cemetery at a later date.
The family will visit with friends from 9:00 a.m. Friday until the service hour at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
