David Newton, 70, of Alma, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 in Fort Smith. He was born December 31, 1944 in Mulberry to the late Isac and Catherine Newton. He was a retired truck driver, a member of the Kibler Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Newton of the home; two sons, Paul Newton of Phoenix, AZ, and Lyle Newton of Alma; a brother, Roger Newton of Alma; and two grandchildren, Harrison and Madison Newton of Alma.
Graveside memorial with Military Honors will be 10:00 Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
