Betty McDonald, 77, of Fort Smith, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015. She was born October 13, 1937 in the Greenwood Community to the late John and Bonnie Raney Covert. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Keck; two sisters, Juanita Starr, and Sybil Smith; and two brothers, Larry and Bobby Jack Covert.
She is survived by her husband, David McDonald of the home; a son, Steven McDonald and wife Laura of Greenwood; a sister, Johnnie Bartlett of Ozark; two grandchildren, Chris McDonald of Greenwood, and Julia Moon of Fort Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Moon of Fort Smith.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Brandenburg, Andrew Daniel, Mark Covert, and Joe Pennington.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
