Irene Francis Hurd, 95, of Lansing, KS passed away after a long illness on Friday, August 7, 2015 at her home. She was born November 28, 1919 in Dyer, to the late Earl T. and Ola Morse. After high school, Irene worked at the Wortz Cookie and Cracker Factory for 31 years, retiring in 1981. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hays Hurd; two infant children, Buddy and Judy; a son, Anthony W. Hurd; and a sister, Earldene Summers.
She is survived by a son, Joe E. Hurd and wife Ann of Lansing, KS; five grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Amos Family Funeral Home of Shawnee, KS. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends immediately following the memorial service at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
