

James Robert Kendig, 85, of Van Buren, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 in Fayetteville. He was born January 4, 1941 in Van Buren to the late Robert Kendig and Clara (Robertson) Kendig. He was a machinist for Mead Container and a member of the Coffee Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene (Wright) Kendig; and a stepdaughter, Lisa Lincoln.
He is survived by three daughters, Robbie Bonewell and husband Ronald of Rudy, Teresa Radmacher and husband Carl of Van Buren, and Karen Kendig-Horner and husband John of Nashville, Tennessee; three stepdaughters, Cheree Griffith and husband Dan of California, Lynette Wahlsteen and husband Bob of California, and Kristy Pearson of Van Buren; two stepsons, Ray Barnes of California, and Freddie Lincoln and wife Mindy of California; a brother, Loren Kendig and wife Vickie of Waco, Texas; six grandchildren, Riley Roper of Alma, Riles “Rowdy” Bonewell and wife Brittney of Rudy, Kelli Riddle and husband Cody of Alma, Harrison Horner and Ava Horner both of Tennessee, and Jon Walker and wife Morgan of Rudy; six great-grandchildren, Kimber Riddle, Rylen Bonewell, Caitlyn Riddle, Carleigh Riddle, Matilda Walker, and Ash Walker; and niece, Julie Kendig and husband Rob Rubalcaba of San Diego, California; and nephew, Brian Kendig and wife Ronnie of Waco, Texas.
A family-hosted Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2301 Midland Boulevard in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
