Jim Wilson

Jim Wilson, 77, of Mulberry, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 in a local hospital. He was born April 20, 1936 in Alma to Charlie and Mattie Wilson. He was a retired Chief Executive Officer with the Dept. of Defense, U.S. Army. He was a presidential appointee under Presidents Reagan and Bush, and served is the U.S. Marine Corp. He was an ordained Baptist minister, a member of Alma Heights Baptist Church, a Master Mason, and a ham radio operator. He was preceded in death by his brother; Charles Wilson.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn, of the home; a daughter, Jamie Wollman; U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, Pyeongtaek, So. Korea, and her husband Bill, of Van Buren; a son, Vaughn Wilson and wife Gina of Alma; five grandchildren, Emmett Reedy and wife Jenny Phomakay, Strom Reedy and wife Dustin, Specialist Kelsey Richards and husband Specialist Derek, Cheyenne Wilson, and Luke Wilson; and a great grandson, Zaeyn Richards.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at Alma Heights Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Pope Cemetery in the Graphic Community, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.

Jimmy and I grew up together, went through school together, played sports and hung out. He was one of the good guys. JoAnn, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Ted Taylor

I remember Jim from Cain Missionary Baptist Church. I was Pastor there in 63-65. I believe he lived in OK City at that time. He preached for us several times when he was home. He loved The Lord and his Word.
