

John William Jerrell, 91, of Alma, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014. He was born October 8, 1922 in Fort Smith to the late Leo and Georgia Jerrell. He was a retired farmer, a member of Fern Assembly of God in Fern, AR, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge; and a certified Grotto’s Lector. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Lee Jerrell.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Betty Jean Jerrell of the home; two daughters, Sharon Jerrell of Alma, and Linda Wilbourn and husband Bill of Rudy; a brother, Robert Jerrell and wife Shirley of Fort Smith; three grandsons, Craig Wilbourn and wife Tricia, Kevin Wilbourn and wife Amanda, and Shannon Wilbourn and wife Pansy; ten great-grandchildren, Jessica Wilbourn, Melissa Robertson and husband Willy, Abby Wilbourn, Charley Wilbourn, Harley Davis and husband Kaleb, Dillon Wilbourn, Cody Wilbourn, Matthew Wilbourn, Isiah Wilbourn, and Hunter Wilbourn; and four great-great-grandchildren, Ryzen Belle Star, Braxton Davis, Raven Jones, and soon to arrive, Maddox Doyle.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Dora Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Craig Wilbourn, Kevin Wilbourn, Shannon Wilbourn, Dillon Wilbourn, Cody Wilbourn, and Matthew Wilbourn.
The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
