Joseph “Adam” Elkins, 44, of Alma, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was born July 13, 1973 in Rockledge, Florida to Joseph and Linda Elkins. He attended Walter State University where he received an Associate’s Degree. He spent most of his professional career in law enforcement serving for police agencies such as The University of Tennessee, the City of Norris, Tennessee, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Forest Park, Georgia. He became a federal agent for The Department of Energy's Office of Secure Transportation where he was a training specialist. His ambitious nature and drive led him to pursue many business ventures throughout his short time. He was owner and operator of several businesses including Elkin’s Trucking, Elkin’s Sporting Goods on Norris Lake, and a motorcycle restoration show. Most recently, his passion for bass fishing motivated him to open Limit Fishing Products. Adam developed many friendships throughout the years and will be dearly missed by many. He was preceded in death by a son, Austin “Race” Elkins; and grandparents Wilber and Evelynn Elkins and The Reverend Clyde and Rosella Helton.
He is survived by his wife, Stacy Elkins of the home; a daughter, Marieve Elkins of Powell, Tennessee; two sons, Joseph “Anden” Elkins and Jackson Mitchell of the home; his parents, Joseph and Linda Elkins of Andersonville, Tennessee; a brother Quentin Elkins and wife Shirley and nephew Shane Elkins of Andersonville, Tennessee. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Community Bible Church in Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. A memorial will also be held at a later date in Knoxville, Tennessee with a burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
