Lester Carl Head, 89, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 in a local hospital. He was born September 10, 1924 in Fort Smith to the late Dow and Anna Head. He was a clerk for the Frisco Railroad, and a member of the Salvation Army Church in Fort Smith. He served in the US Navy during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, and a son, Robert (Bob) Head.
He is survived by a daughter, Paula Hayes of Van Buren; a sister, Bonnie King of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Robin Clark and Patricia Charlton; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Russell, III, Willis Clark, and Paul Bower.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
