

Lillie Jewel Stewart, 89, of Mulberry, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at her home. She was born July 2, 1936 in San Antonio to the late Elmer and Viola (Hermes) Cavitt. She was a registered nurse with the Crawford County Health Department and served as administrator for 15 years. Miss Lillie was lovingly known as “Grandma Lillie”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband B.V. “Budd” Stewart; and a sister, Ruth Oefinger.
She is survived by two daughters, Norma Smith and husband R.B. and Suzette Piercefield and husband Gary, all of Mulberry; three sons, John Stewart of Pensacola, Florida, Billy Stewart of Mulberry, and Sean Stalnaker and wife Regina of Searcy; a sister, Virgie Knights of Washington; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026 at St. Michael Catholic Church with interment at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be John Stewart, R.B. Smith, Billy Stewart, Joshua Piercefield, Justin Piercefield, and Rodney Stalnaker.
Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026 with the family visiting with friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
