Marianne Belinda Morton, age 46, passed away in Rudy, Arkansas, on Monday, March 4, 2013. She was born July 28, 1966, in Victoria, Seychelles to Marie-Ange Adams (Morton, nee d’Offay) and Jarred Morton.
Belinda grew up in Apple Valley, California, graduating from Apple Valley High School class of 1984. After attending Cal State, San Bernardino, California she worked as an instructional aide at various High Desert schools, including Victor Valley High School, St. Timothy’s Episcopal School, Westside Park Elementary School, and Ranchero Middle School.
Belinda was predeceased by her newborn son, Levi Harold Morton Brown born on April 15, 2011, her father, Jarred Morton of West Virginia, her grandparents Armand and Edmee d’Offay of Victoria, Seychelles, William and Delsie Morton of West Virginia, and Genevieve Adams of Apple Valley. She is survived by Harold Brown, father of their son Levi, her mother Marie-Ange Adams and her step-father Ken Adams of Apple Valley, step-brother, Bill Morton (Denise Ammons), nieces Amanda, Sarah, Sophie and Sydney of South Carolina, her sister, Annemarie Deborah Morton and nephew, Joshua Stephens of Santa Cruz, California, her brother, Armand Schey Morton, sister-in-law, Miriam Kurtzman Morton and nephews Eli and Nathan of Apple Valley, her brother, William Schell Morton (Penny Haynes), nephew Jarred, nieces Amanda and Leanna of Apple Valley , her sister Ashley Marie Adams of Victoria, Seychelles. In addition, she is survived by her aunt Joann Yates of West Virginia, her aunt Yvette (Joe) Desnousse, uncles Gonzague d’Offay (Julita) , Jeffrey d’Offay (Gillian Godley) all of Victoria, Seychelles, and numerous loving relatives and cousins in West Virginia, Seychelles, South Africa and Australia.
Belinda was an avid reader, journal writer, and an advocate of children’s literacy. A free spirit with an exuberant “joie de vivre,” she enjoyed outdoor activities, hiking and camping at parks and beaches, gardening, taking care of animals, and her rural life in Arkansas. She has traveled widely in the United States as well as abroad to France, England, and Seychelles.
Belinda was a member of Calvary Chapel of the High Desert. She was baptized by Pastor Davenport at Spring Valley Lake with friends and family members witnessing her faith and acceptance of the Lord as her personal savior. Her memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Children’s Ministry Sanctuary, Building #2 at Calvary Chapel 14740 Eucalyptus Road, Hesperia, California under the direction of Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary of Apple Valley, CA. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the home of Schey and Miriam Morton, 14219 Rincon Road, Apple Valley. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of children’s books in memory of Marianne Belinda Morton be dropped off to Karen Ev at the Victorville Branch Library, 15011 Circle Drive Monday-Friday, March 11 to 15 from 9 a.m-5 p.m. or at the memorial service on Saturday. Donation checks can also be made out to “Friends of the Apple Valley Library.”
