Marty Knighten, 66, of Van Buren died Tuesday, April 02, 2013 in a local hospital. He was born February 10, 1947 in Tacoma, WA to the late Cleo and Elva Knighten. He was a retired driver for Yellow Cab in Medford, OR, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife Linda of the home; two daughters, Laura Gause and husband James of Port Richey, FL, and Gessika Martin of Medford, OR; a son, Dale Knighten and wife Shawna of Van Buren; a sister, Sherri Crawford of Jerome, ID; two brothers, Gary Knighten of Salem, OR, and Chuck Knighten of Chico, CA; fourteen grandchildren, Holli, Erica, Brittney, Ceyrra, Melanie, Lesley, Jake, Alecia, Jessica, Slade, Christian, Rachel, Haleigh, and Emily; and two great-grandchildren, Maddisen, and Macii.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel in Van Buren, with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Dale Knighten, Todd Hightower, Kent Stone, and Juan Hernandez.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
