Martin M. “Mick” Balazic, 98, of Alma, passed peacefully to be with his Savior on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in Van Buren. He was born January 24, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a retired rancher from Big Sandy, Montana and also retired from Whirlpool Corporation in Fort Smith. Martin was an avid bowler until age 96 and was a member of USBC Bowling Hall of Fame, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Alma.
Martin was preceded in death by a son, Eldon Shuffield; a brother, Frank Balazic; and a sister, Ann Engerbritzen.
He is survived by his wife of 63years, Thelma (Sazy) of the home; two sons, Mike Balazic and his wife, Becky of Van Buren, AR and Dale Balazic and his wife Clara of Alma, AR; two sisters, Rosalee of Seattle, WA and Margaret Grubb of Big Sandy, MT; three brothers, twin brother, John Balazic of Chinook, MT, Tony Balazic of Bremerton, WA, and Joe Balazic of Seattle, WA; as well as 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Conley Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Treesa Earley, Mindy Alexander, Scott Shuffield, Darrell Balazic, Chris Nolen, and Taylor Nolen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Toothaker, Brother Alexander Robert Nolen, Hunter Balazic, Ethan Alexander, and Henry Ledford.
