Mary Ruth Harris, 98, of Van Buren, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026. She was born January 11, 1928 in Dewey, Oklahoma to the late Harrison and Mertie (Treece) Hicks. She had worked for JCPenney, and the Calico Goose. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lois “Bo” Harris; a daughter, Linda Rofkahr; a granddaughter, Lynda Davis; three sisters, Sara Hicks, Sue Bryant, and Alice Stevens; three brothers, Jimmy Hicks, Bill Hicks, and Bobby Hicks; and a great-grandson, Anthony Davis.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Hebard of Van Buren, and Anita Gibson of Eagle Rock, Missouri; two sisters, Carol Ann Stewart of Loganville, Georgia, and Lela Mae Barra of Long Island, New York; three grandchildren, John Hebard, David Hebard, and Joy Holman, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Adams, John Hebard, River Brooks, Rick Holman, Travis Holman, and Tallon Holman.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
