He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a graduate of West Virginia University at Morgantown. His profession as a pharmaceutical representative took him to several states to reside, until he accepted early retirement from Dow Chemical to reside in Fort Smith. There he worked for five years at Mercy Hospital before final retirement.
He was a member of Parkway Christian Church in Plantation, FL for seventeen years, where he served as a deacon and elder, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was chairman of several functional committees. In Fort Smith, he was a member of First Christian Church where he served as a deacon and actively served on several functional committees.
His family included a sister, Louise, and three brothers, Haynes, John D. and Sam.
He will be buried in Cemetery Hill in Russellville, WV where many of his relatives are interred. There will be a graveside memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, under the direction of Wallace & Wallace of Rainelle, WV. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
