Robert P. Stephens, 74, of Van Buren, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 in Fort Smith. He was born November 15, 1946 in Fort Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Dyer Church of Christ, and of the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Stephens; and his parents George and Mary (Lambert) Stephens.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Stewart and husband Craig of Broken Arrow, and Christie Smith and husband Lance of Van Buren; five grandchildren, Jesseca Haury, Alex Stewart, and Nic Stewart, all of Broken Arrow, and Meagan Smith and Rylee Smith, both of Van Buren; and three great-grandchildren, Mya, Jaedra, and Emmett.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Alex Stewart, Nic Stewart, Craig Stewart, Lance Smith, Kevin Cain, and Adam Cain. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Whitlock, George Lee, Bobby Winfrey, Ronnie Tanner, and Billy Geophert.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Christian Home at 100 West Harding Street, Morrilton, AR 72110.
