Roy E. Person, 80, of Alma, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at his home. He was born January 19, 1944 in Fort Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, was a retired truck driver, and a founding member of New Life Church in Fort Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Person; his parents, Jacob L. Person, Jr. and Violet L. (Dunkenson) Osburn; as well as six siblings and three stepsiblings.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy E. Mitchell (Jeremiah) of Alma; two sons, Thomas Person of Tulsa, and Jon D. Person (Mallory) of Little Rock; a stepsister, Kathryn Parker; and six grandchildren, Jon David, Jacob, Spencer (Kyla), Levi (Grace), Bailey, and Ben (Destiny).
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at New Life Church in Fort Smith followed by burial at the Fort Smith National Cemetery with military honors, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Jon David Person, Jacob Hall, Spencer Mitchell, Levi Mitchell, Bailey Mitchell, and Kyle Scott.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
