Sarah Haley Johnson Bays

Sarah Haley Johnson Bays, 88, of Alma, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at her home. She was born March 5, 1934 in Paris, Texas to the late Carl and Margaret (House) Haley. She was a graduate of North Texas University; was a teacher in the Fort Smith Public School system and Hobson Kindergarten; and managed Country Junction. She was a member and officer of Lambda chapter Kappa Kappa Iota; served on the board of the local Girl Scouts, and on the board of Interfaith Community Center. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she served terms as deaconess and elder, and was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and taught Sunday school.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bays.

She is survived by two sons, Brian David Johnson of Alma, and Barry Douglas Johnson of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Margaret Robison of Irving, Texas; and three grandchildren, Ananda Miriam Johnson, Batya Rachel Nightingale, and Allie Grace Johnson.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Paris, Texas, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
