Tomie Aldridge, Sr., 68, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his home. He was born September 13, 1949 in Charleston to the late Lonnie and Ruby Aldridge. He was a retired painter, a member of the VFW/DAV, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Phillips and Loretta Aldridge, and two brothers, Gene and Bob Aldridge.

He is survived by his wife, Lizzie Aldridge of the home; five daughters, April Aldridge of Muldrow, Trista Perry and husband Bubba of Van Buren, Loretta James of Hanceville, AL, Danielle Santillana of Roland, and Gerrie Portillo and husband Genaro of Van Buren; four sons, Tomie Aldridge, Jr. of Mulberry, Jackie Aldridge and wife Melissa of Fort Smith, Johnny Aldridge of Fort Smith, and Josh Perry and wife Jennifer of Van Buren; five sisters, Hazel Lefevre of Van Buren, Betty Atterberry of Fort Smith, Peggy Lynch of Oark, and Nancy McNees and Netty Aldridge both of Fort Smith; and thirty grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be members of the local VFW. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.

I remember the time when we didn't have any food but daddy always made sure we had food in our bellys. I am miss him deeply but know he will be watching from heaven. I love you daddy
