Walter Gerdts

Walter Gerdts, 73, of Van Buren, passed from this life on Friday, December 25, 2015 at his home. He was born February 12, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Martha Tiedemann Gerdts. Walter was very family oriented and his family meant everything to him. People loved him because he never judged anyone. He always saw the good in everyone. Trudy, his wife of 51 years was the love of his life, and he would do anything to make her happy.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy of the home; a daughter, Tinamarie Hooten and husband Dale of Alma; a son, George Gerdts and fiancé Allison Phelps of Van Buren; two sisters, Diane Gerdts of Ridgewood, NY, and Maryann Rini of Vallhalla, NY; two brothers, Artie Gerdts of Middle Village, NY, and George Gerdts of Port Charlotte, FL; four grandchildren, Heather Velis and husband Miguel, Matthew Gerdts, Amanda Ross, and Steven Ross; five great-grandchildren, Araceli Velis, Adrianna Velis, Alina Velis, Razner Hunter, and Nicco Velis; his sisters-in-law, Ellen Melton, Roe Poirier, and Jean Taylor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. No services are scheduled at this time.
