The Biography of Alicia Guevara
December 1st 1933 - July 18 2022
Alicia Guevara was born on December 1st 1933, in Siguatepeque Honduras. She has been a hardworking and independent woman since the age of eleven, she started out by selling pots and pans that were hand crafted by her Grandmother.
Alicia made an effort to always take care of her family, even at such a young age. She would run errands on behalf of her Grandmother at the nearby grocery store, wash her clothing; and still found time to attend a nearby school to learn basic elementary skills.
By the time she was a full grown adult at the age of 18, she moved to San Pedro Sula, Honduras where she met Jose Pineda. A man she fell in love with and shortly after gave birth to Maria Del Carmen Roque at the age of 22 years in 1955. Four short years later Alicia Guevara and her Daughter migrated to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.
Alicia proceeded to work several jobs to provide an education for her daughter, one of the more notable professions that she became known for was a licensed dressmaker. A skill that she carried on with her throughout her life and eventually brought over to the United States.
Her hardworking and entrepreneurial spirit has been a perpetual example for her family, whenever she wasn’t working as a dressmaker she was flying to Guatemala to purchase items at wholesale so she could fly back to Honduras and resell at a profit.
Half of her life was spent in Honduras, and the other half is an act of bravery that seldom few will ever accomplish. After several years of working hard in Tegucigalpa, she couldn’t help but wonder if there is a chance for a better life. She took swift action and proceeded to sell everything she ever owned, withdrew her entire life savings, and sold her house. All in hopes of pursuing the American dream, and to one day return to her homeland with her daughter after providing a chance for higher education in the land of opportunity.
Thereon the two embarked on a three week journey from Honduras, through Mexico, and finally made their way to San Diego in the year of 1979. To that of which they were greeted by fellow hispanics which provided them with a place to live and a short term job, which Alicia Guevara took upon to ensure a future for her daughter Carmen Roque.
After getting on their feet, the two made their way to Los Angeles. Where they secured themselves an apartment, and laid down a foundation for the family that is to come.
Although this is the tale of Alicia Guevara, there were two more pivotal moments in her life that are marked as milestones that brought her an immense amount of joy.
One was the birth of her Granddaughter, Rosemary Roque. Rosemary was born on October 12th 1983, and resembles Alicia Guevara in more ways than one, one could say that Rosemary Roque and Alicia Guevara are two peas in a pod, the two had a strong bond growing up which held strong until her final moments in life.
Rosemary took it upon herself to ensure that Alicia Guevara was taken care of, and went the extra mile by providing safe housing and close comfort to her immediate family.
Whenever Rosemary was not around to assist Alicia Guevara in day to day needs either her daughter Carmen Roque or Grandson Moses Albo was there to pick up where she left off.
Moses Albo is her second Grandchild, born on October 28th 1989. Moses was known as a bit of a troublemaker growing up. Often playing pranks on Alicia for laughs and giggles. All that changed as he grew older and forged a deep spiritual connection with Alicia and an even closer bond with one another that will last for eternity.
They would often contemplate the complexities of life, talk about God, and deeper spiritual topics such as the end of life. Moses made it a point to stand up for her grandmother, all the way to the end and continues to do so until this day. His goal is to carry on her words of wisdom and study the Bible as deeply as she once did.
Fifteen years later, after surviving a near fatal earthquake in the year of 1994; Alicia Guevara began the most important journey of her life. This is when she embarked on her path to the walk of light that is her fellowship with Jesus Christ and the Gospel of God.
From this moment forward she became a changed woman, one of purity and devout action in the name of God. She would spend the rest of her life putting God first, and pursuing a life of evangelism and helping others. This was her main passion in life, she had no other intention other than that of sharing the message and teachings of Jesus Christ.
She knew and understood the power of God, his ability to heal through the power of prayer, and his ability to change people’s lives the way God changed hers. She began to teach children in her local Church, and when she wasn’t teaching the youth she would invest time teaching others out and about in local and sometimes distant neighborhoods.
She considered herself a local missionary, and would wake up at the crack of dawn to preach to the downtrodden of Los Angeles. She fearlessly embarked into the some of the darkest corners of LA and Las Vegas, all in the name of Jesus Christ in an effort to help touch the souls of many.
Through rain, intense heat, or nightfall nothing would stand in her way or stop her from preaching, she dedicated the rest of her life to the Iglesia Universal and Jesus Christ. Several people would offer her money during her solo evangelical journeys, and if she were to ever accept any donations they would be passed onto the church.
She was not a woman of material possessions or worldly goods, she left her family an invaluable wealth of knowledge, and a legacy that is worth more than any monetary asset ever will be.
During her final moments, when she was no longer able to walk she still only had one desire. The desire to help others, and spread the word of God.
This is the story of Alicia Guevara. Her memory will live on through her family, and her legacy will be carried on through the seed of life planted within the souls of her daughter Carmen Roque, her granddaughter Rosemary Roque, and grandson Moses Albo.
She will always be remembered as a valiant mother, kind hearted individual, and selfless woman that will never be matched by anyone else to come, in the legacy she has laid the foundation for.
