On August 18, 2026, our family experienced the unimaginable loss of our beloved Marlo — a devoted husband, father, son, cousin, friend, and so much more to so many people. He left this world far too soon, leaving behind a family and community that loved him deeply. Marlo came to the United States from El Salvador and worked hard to build a life here. In so many ways, he was achieving his own version of the American Dream — building a home, raising a beautiful family, serving his community, and creating a life centered around faith, family, and helping others. He was raised by an incredibly hardworking single mother, and for many years, it was just the two of them. Her strength and work ethic were qualities Marlo carried with him throughout his own life. Eventually, he met his wife, Brenda, and together they built a beautiful family and became parents to two amazing daughters, now 13 and 14 years old. Being a husband and father was one of the greatest parts of his life, and his family meant everything to him. To many of us cousins, Marlo wasn’t simply our cousin — he was our big brother. He was someone we looked up to, someone we could turn to, and someone who was always there. He protected, guided, joked with, and cared for us like an older brother would. His absence leaves a space in our family that can never truly be filled. Marlo was truly an angel on Earth. He was one of the most genuinely selfless people you could ever meet — the kind of person who would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He had an especially tender heart for the elderly and treated them with incredible respect, patience, and care. His generosity extended far beyond his family. Marlo was deeply involved with his local church and gave so much of himself to his community. He helped mentor and support the youth, prepared and organized church events, and was always willing to step in wherever help was needed. Serving others wasn’t something he did for recognition; it was simply who he was. Anyone who knew Marlo also knew how much he enjoyed the simple things that brought people together. He loved soccer, Spanish rock music, and especially good food. Marlo was a big foodie and was always introducing many of us to something new. He was the one who introduced some of us cousins to things like boba and Korean BBQ, turning a meal or a new place to try into another memory together. Those little things may seem simple, but they are the moments we will treasure — the food he convinced us to try, the music he loved, the soccer games, his laughter, and the time spent together as a family. Unfortunately, the last chapter of Marlo’s life was incredibly difficult. His health required him to undergo dialysis multiple times each week, eventually forcing him to leave his job. This created a significant financial hardship for his family while they were already carrying the emotional and physical weight of his illness. Now, after losing him far too soon, Brenda and their girls are facing the unexpected expenses after Marlo’s departure and now navigating life without the husband and father who meant so much to them. We are asking our family, friends, church community, and anyone whose life was touched by Marlo’s kindness to please consider helping us give him the beautiful farewell he deserves. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will go toward his family needs and help ease some of the financial burden on Brenda and their daughters during this devastating time. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser, saying a prayer, or simply keeping Brenda, their girls, his mother, and our entire family in your thoughts means more than we can express. He came from El Salvador with hopes for a beautiful life. He worked hard, built a family, strengthened his community, helped raise and guide a generation of cousins, and left an impact on more people than he probably ever realized. To us, Marlo truly was an angel on Earth. Rest peacefully, Marlo. Our husband, father, son, big brother, cousin, and friend. Your life was far too short, but the love you gave us will last a lifetime. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every donation, share, prayer, and message of support during this incredibly difficult time.
