Amarjit Kaur Jhingan

From Sanskrit अमर (amara) "immortal" and जिति (jiti) “victory”

July 22, 1935 (Yangon, Burma) - November 8, 2020 (Vancouver, BC)

Mrs Jhingan died peacefully surrounded by family holding her hands. Each of her children said their goodbyes and then she left this world with a gentle breath.

Above all things in life, she cherished her family. She remembered everyone’s birthdays, said ardas for us before exams, and had the warmest laugh.

She chose to marry the man she loved and took an adventure with him to build a life in a new country. She survived the loss of her beloved daughter and overcame many ailments. Throughout, her spirit and faith never faltered. She always found something to smile for. She was continuously learning and growing.

She is bereaved by many who loved her dearly and embrace the love shared with each of us. Her love, like her, is अमर (amara) "immortal".

She is remembered by her loving husband, Krishan Kumar Jhingan, brother Dr. Iqbal Singh Kalra (Ludhiana, Punjab, India), and sister Harjit Kaur Minhas (Surrey BC).

Children, Jyoti Kapil, Poonam Jhingan and Terrence Collins, Jatinder (Jim) and Esther Jhingan.

Grandchildren, Pamela and James Liao, Neil Kapil, Parveen Krishan Verma, Pretty Jyoti Verma and Quinn Gentles, Sarah Jhingan, Karina Jhingan and Victoria Jhingan.

Great-Grandchildren, Norah Alexandra Liao age 5 and Mackenzie James Liao age 2.

A private funeral ceremony was held on Saturday, November 14th 2020 at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home close to her home in Vancouver.

We celebrated the light in our lives, on the day of light, Diwali.

Please say a prayer and light a candle for Mrs Jhingan today and each Diwali.

In lieu of gifts, the family will be making a donation to support the education of young girls, something Mrs. Jhingan always believed in.

I cherish beautiful moments with Bhuaji.

From my childhood since the last day of her life she always taught me some good things. She was always concerned for everyone, for every family member.
She was very special woman, and she will be missed by many.

Her life was a blessing , Her memory a treasure.

May God give strength to all family members to bear the loss 🙏🙏

I have great memories of her growing up when uncle and Aunty use to come and visit us in India. She was very kind and had a very clam demeanor. She was always ready to help others and that’s what i admired about her. It’s a big lose for our family and i will keep her and every body else in our prayers..

The most remarkable attribute of Mrs. Amarjit Jhingan, (auntie to us) was her caring and giving nature. She’d make sure that everyone she knows is fed, looked after, helped out and gets something that one likes. She just spread love all around her and that’s what she got in return.
