It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Archie Lam at the age of ninety-one. Archie peacefully passed away December 30, 2024, at Saint Michael’s Hospice with his daughters by his side.
Born in 1933 in Sun Wei, China, Archie emigrated to Canada in 1952, where he built a life defined by determination, hard work, and resilience. He married Cathy in 1958, and together, they worked tirelessly to provide their family with better opportunities. In later years, they opened the Jade Leaf Restaurant, which served the community for two decades before their retirement. Archie was blessed with a large, loving family that cherished celebrating birthdays and holidays together. He adored his grandchildren, cultivated a beautiful garden, enjoyed travelling, and loved cooking delicious meals for his family. Known for his humility, Archie will always be remembered for his selflessness, kindness, generosity, and ever-present, warm smile.
Archie is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughters Eva, Lillian, Jeannie, Lisa (Jeff), Lorna (Darryl), Doris and Marian (Albert); and his grandchildren Sam, Noah, Zoe, Neela, Elliott and Nathan.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to their relatives and friends for their love and support. They would also like to thank the staff at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Michael's Hospice for their compassionate care.
A viewing will take place Tuesday, January 14, 6:00-8:00 pm. And the Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 11:00 am at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, followed by interment at Ocean View Burial Park at 1:00 pm.
