

Arrhenius "Arie" "Rhenie" Lapré (93 years old) passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2026 surrounded by his family. Arie is survived by his wife of 62 years Joanna, his children Yvette (Miguel) and Andrew (Lissa), grandchildren Joshua (Roshni), Chantelle (Alex), Arielle and great granddaughter Lindsey, and brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews around the world.
Born in Wlingi, Indonesia on July 8th 1932, he lived in Surabaya, Ambon and Dutch New Guinea. In his early years he survived 2 wars and prison camps. He later worked for Shell and KLM before moving to the Netherlands. There he met the love of his life, Joanna, while working at Schiphol airport. They married and moved to Canada in 1965 where they raised their family. He was a kind, happy, gentle man who dedicated his life to his family and cherished each moment with them.
As a new immigrant, Arie worked various jobs CN Rail, travel consultant, landscaping but settled in at Atlas Copco for over 20 years, and was a long, proud member of the IUOE local 115. He loved travel, food, story telling, gardening, and 6/49 tickets!
We will all miss him and his joyous, sweet laugh.
Funeral mass is on Tuesday March 3, 2026 at 11 am at Corpus Christi Parish in Vancouver with reception to follow.
