March 1930 - August 2019
A principled 89 year old with keen intellect, wit and an unambiguous approach to communication has left her mark on the South False Creek Community (SFCC) and beyond with her long standing contributions to civic, community, arts, people and environmental matters. Beryl was a pioneer citizen of the SFCC. Well known as the editor of The Creek for 20 years commencing in 1983, under her stewardship the newspaper weaved together the fabric of the uniquely interconnected SFCC and Granville Island communities. Upon retiring from The Creek she was bestowed an honorary Citizenship to Granville Island in appreciation of her contributions to the two communities. She leaves family, who loved her deeply, her beloved Spruce Village community, the SFCC at large and many other friends and acquaintances to grieve.
"Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye. Cheerio, here I go. I am on my way. Ta, ta for now and see you anon."
A celebration of life will be held September 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dockside Restaurant located at the Granville island Hotel.
