Burdena Jessie Cowan
May 15, 1912 – January 18, 2013
COWAN, Burdena Jessie (Rae) Sutherland,
Passed away peacefully at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at her home with family members by her side. Burdena was born in West Branch, Nova Scotia on May 15, 1912, daughter of Robert and Margaret (MacLeod) Rae. She was predeceased by her first husband Robert Sutherland; second husband Kenneth Cowan; daughter Margaret and son Hugh. She is survived by her son James (Audrey) Sutherland of Bedford, N.S.; daughters Janette (Hugh) Matheson of Vancouver and Lorna (George) Alexander of Delta, B.C.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 306 East 11 Ave. Vancouver with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver.

Our Deepest Sympathy for all the Family who will miss Burdena. She was a kind and caring neighbor for so many years to Elsie Damon and her family. Mom kept in touch with Burdena and so enjoyed her 100th Birthday gathering last Spring. Mom cannot attend Services as she has just had eye surgery Tuesday but sends heartfelt wishes to all.
