The Porter Family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Chuck on July 24, 2014 at the Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, BC.
Chuck was born in Springhill, NS on January 11, 1945 and was raised in Pugwash, NS. He then raised his own family in Trenton, NS. In his 20’s, Chuck was the79th employee hired by Michelin Tire. He was sent to France to learn how to make tires and then returned to help open the Michelin Tire Plant in Granton, NS.
After Chuck moved to Vancouver, BC in the 80’s, he worked as a First Aid Attendant/Medic operating the emergency clinic and caring for injured firefighters in the lightning strike territory of Northern BC. Chuck spent his retirement gold panning at Emery Creek and venturing into the wilderness around Hope, BC
Predeceased by his father Walter, mother Jean Teed and brother Murray, he is survived by his children Robert (Ro) and Katherine (Brian) and grandchildren Isaac, Owen, Noah and Devon.
The family of Chuck wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at Fraser Canyon Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Chuck in his last days.
As per his wishes, there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
