At the age of 11, his mother, his sister Jessika and him moved to Sidney, BC where he continued his education at North Saanich Middle School and graduated with his best friends from Parkland's Secondary School in year 2000. He began playing lacrosse in Burnaby, BC at age 5 as a goalie and then became a left forward. He began playing hockey at age 6 as a left winger with the Burnaby Minor Association and finished his hockey career with the Peninsula Eagles in Sidney, BC. His first love was lacrosse which he continued to play right up until age 18 with the Peninsula Warriors. In Kelowna, BC, at the age of 23, he played his final season with the Kelowna Raiders Senior Men's team. Corey was a beautiful, sweet innocent child, with a soft natured soul. Words cannot describe the joys (and trials, ha, ha!!) Corey gave to his mother. He made every effort to make his family proud of his accomplishments which he succeeded to do. He put a lot of heart and effort into the people and things he loved. Besides his family, Corey's friends always came first. He enjoyed making everyone laugh and having fun. Corey was adventurous and a dare-devil, always living life to the extreme and trying everything at least once. He definitely had nine-lives. Corey was also a ladies man with good looks, charm and a gentle nature. He had dreams and goals to lead a successful and healthy lifestyle. He wanted to settle down and financially invest and was just starting to put his plan into place with a great job and a new home when his life was suddenly taken. Corey will alway be remembered by his strong bear hug, kissable lips, sweet smile, humor, caring and kindness. Corey will be forever loved and missed by all!The Final JourneyDon't grieve for me, for now I'm free,I'm following the path God laid for me.I took his hand when I heard his call,I turned my back and left it all.I could not stay another day,To laugh, to love, to work, to play.Tasks left undone must stay that way,I've found that peace at the end of the day.If my parting has left a void,Then fill it with remembered joy.A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,Ah, yes, these things too I will miss.Be not burdened with times of sorrow,I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savoured much,Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.Lift up your heart and share with me,God wanted me now, He set me free.
